Concerns of the Residents in District 3

District 3 residents have brought up the following issues to Eunique that they hold dear to their heart and wish to see some change on:

Crime Rate/Drug Use in the Community

Although Violent Crime is on the decline in Delaware, with overall 40 percent decline in gun violence, and homicides declining more than 50 percent since the pandemic, this is still a major concern for district 3 residents. Drug use and Drug overdoses have been on the incline since the pandemic at about 19 percent rise in overdose deaths. Eunique will continue to connect with policymakers and the residents to find out how we can continue to make our neighborhoods safer, and keep our district free from drugs and overdose deaths.

Education System

The state of Delaware is ranked 45th in education in the entire country. 75 percent of fourth graders are not proficient in reading, 82 percent of eighth-graders are not proficient in math, and 25 percent of our students don’t even bother showing up to school on a consistent basis. Key issues with this problem correlate with poverty, adversity in our children’s lives and chronic absences. Eunique will strive to work with policymakers to invest in community and public schools that provide wraparound support to kids and families. She will work to promote natural homes for tutoring, mental health support, nutritional aid and other services, and to advocate for community schools to use innovative and creative programs to support young learners and encourage parent engagement, which leads to better outcomes for kids.

Political Party Balance within the State

As of June 18th, 2024, It has been reported that the Republican party is the third largest party in the state, with the Democratic party leading, and the Independent party second. The Republican party lost nearly a thousand voters this year. It has been reported that the DMV new voter registration process may have a part to play in this, and also Delaware residents have just lost trust in the democratic process in Delaware. Eunique intends to help recruit more Republican voters to the party by connecting with the Independent voters providing them information so they understand they must pick a party in order to participate in our primary elections.
